From SHOPLINE export to sent campaign#
Filter to customers who accept marketing
In the SHOPLINE admin, open Customer Management, then Customers. Use Add Filters and set Accepts Marketing to Yes S1.
Export the customer report
Click the export button at the top right, choose which customers to include, select the fields you need, including email and the marketing consent field, and click Export S2.
Download the file
SHOPLINE emails the report to the address you use to sign in to the admin. You can also download it from Report & Analytics, Bulk Action Process S2.
Save it as CSV UTF-8
Open the file in Excel and save a copy as CSV UTF-8. Tellnod reads only UTF-8 files, so Chinese names stay intact.
Import it in Claude
With Tellnod connected, attach the CSV and say it is your SHOPLINE export. Tellnod checks the consent column and asks if anything is unclear.
Preview, test and confirm
Describe the campaign, check the desktop and mobile preview, send a test to yourself, then press Confirm on the confirmation card. Nothing is sent before that.
Email only customers who agreed to marketing#
A customer record in SHOPLINE is not permission to send marketing. Before you export, decide who may receive the campaign: only customers who agreed to receive promotions from your shop. SHOPLINE records this agreement per customer, and its own broadcast tool sends only to customers who accepted it S3.
Tellnod follows the same rule. It imports only people who agreed to receive marketing, keeps unsubscribed people unsubscribed, and records where each contact came from as a consent record. For the legal background, see email marketing consent laws.
Check how customers got into SHOPLINE. When customers are imported with the marketing column left blank, SHOPLINE treats them as accepting promotions S3. If an earlier import left that column blank, confirm those people really agreed before you email them.
Export customers with the consent field#
Exporting the customer report is available on the Advanced and Premium plans S1. The customer list has filters for marketing: Accepts Marketing and Accepts WhatsApp Marketing, each set to Yes or No S1. For an email campaign, use Accepts Marketing.
The export window offers three ranges: All Customers, Customer Create Time (a date range) and Selected Customers, which exports the customers you ticked in the list S2. SHOPLINE’s help article does not say that the export follows the filters on screen, so there are two safe ways to keep consent with the file:
- Filter the list to Accepts Marketing: Yes, tick those customers and export Selected Customers.
- Export All Customers and include the field that records marketing consent, so each row says whether the customer accepted. SHOPLINE calls this setting Accepts Marketing in the customer filters S1 and 接受優惠宣傳 in the Chinese admin S3. Pick the matching field in the export field list.
In the field list, click a field on the left to add it; Select all adds every field, and Full Name is always included S2. For email you need at least Full Name, the email address and the consent field. Add fields you want for personalization or segments, such as membership tier or tags.
| Task | English admin | Chinese admin |
|---|---|---|
| Open the customer list | Customer Management, Customers | 顧客管理 > 顧客 |
| Filter by consent | Add Filters, Accepts Marketing | 接受優惠宣傳 |
| Start the export | Export button at the top right | 匯出顧客報表 |
| Choose customers | All Customers, Customer Create Time or Selected Customers | 所有顧客、顧客加入時間、已選顧客 |
| Download later | Report & Analytics, Bulk Action Process | 報表及分析 > 大量作業進度 |
Each file holds up to 60,000 customers; larger exports are split into several download links S2. Import each file in turn, or combine them into one sheet before saving it as CSV.
Save the report as CSV UTF-8#
SHOPLINE sends the customer report as an Excel file S1. Tellnod imports CSV, so open the report in Excel, choose Save As and pick CSV UTF-8 as the file type.
The encoding matters for Chinese names and for consent. A file saved in another encoding, such as Big5, can turn Chinese text into the wrong characters, including a word that said the customer declined marketing. Tellnod therefore refuses any file that is not UTF-8 and imports nothing from it. Save the file again as CSV UTF-8 and import it again.
Import, preview and send with Tellnod in Claude#
Tellnod is an MCP connector for writing, previewing and sending marketing email from Claude or ChatGPT. After you connect Tellnod, the whole campaign happens in one conversation. Here is how Ninefold, an apparel shop on SHOPLINE, sends its autumn launch:
- Attach the CSV on the import card or paste it into the chat, and say where it came from: “Import this SHOPLINE customer export. Only people who accept marketing should be subscribed.”
- Tellnod removes duplicate emails, skips invalid addresses and keeps unsubscribed people unsubscribed. If the file has no consent column, it asks whether these people agreed to receive marketing. If a column might mean do not send, it shows the values and asks which ones mean do not send.
- Describe the campaign: “Email customers who accept marketing about the autumn coats, in Traditional Chinese, with the lookbook link.” Claude drafts it and shows a desktop and mobile preview.
- Ask for changes in plain words, then: “Send a test to me.” The test goes only to you.
- When you are ready, Claude prepares the send and Tellnod shows the approval card with the recipient count, the people left out and the schedule. The campaign is scheduled only when you press Confirm. The AI cannot press it for you.

FAQ#
Can I email every customer in my SHOPLINE export?
No. Email only customers who agreed to receive marketing from your shop. In SHOPLINE that is the Accepts Marketing setting. Filter on it before exporting, or keep it as a column so Tellnod can read it.
Which SHOPLINE plans can export customers?
SHOPLINE’s help center marks the customer report export as available on the Advanced and Premium plans.
Why does Tellnod refuse my exported file?
Tellnod reads CSV files saved as UTF-8 only. An Excel file, or a CSV in another encoding such as Big5, is refused and nothing is imported. Save it as CSV UTF-8 and import it again.
What if my export has more than 60,000 customers?
SHOPLINE splits large exports into files of up to 60,000 customers each. Import the files one after another. Tellnod matches contacts by email, so a customer who appears twice is kept once.
