# Switch to Tellnod in one conversation

> Switching to Tellnod takes one export and one conversation: download your contacts as a CSV from your current tool, attach the file in Claude or ChatGPT, and Tellnod keeps consent status and unsubscribes so nobody who left your list gets email again.

## Three steps

1. **Export your contacts.** Download a CSV from your current tool, including unsubscribed and bounced contacts so they stay excluded. Steps for each tool are below.
2. **Attach the file in the chat.** Say "Import my customers from this file". Tellnod maps the columns, shows what it found and keeps consent status; contacts without consent information are not marked as subscribed until you confirm they opted in.
3. **Verify your domain and send a test.** Add the SPF, DKIM and DMARC records Tellnod gives you, then start with your most engaged customers and widen the audience over a few weeks.

## How to export from your current tool

| From | Where to export | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Mailchimp | Audience → Export audience [S1] | The download can contain one CSV per status (subscribed, unsubscribed, non-subscribed, cleaned). Import all of them so unsubscribes and cleaned addresses stay excluded. |
| Klaviyo | Audience → Lists & segments → open a list or segment → Manage → export to CSV [S2] | Export the suppressed profiles too (Audience → Profiles → Suppressed) so they stay suppressed. |
| Shopify | Customers → Export → All customers [S3] | If the file has an email marketing consent column, Tellnod uses it as the consent status. |
| MailerLite | Subscribers → select all → Actions → Export CSV [S4] | Filter by unsubscribed, bounced and spam complaints and export those as well. |

## What moves and what does not

- **Moves:** contacts, names, tags or custom fields as columns, consent status, unsubscribes and bounces.
- **Rebuilt in a minute:** your brand, read from your website, and your segments, described in plain words.
- **Does not move:** past campaign reports and automated flows. Tellnod does not have automated flows yet; you send those emails as campaigns, starting from a [template](https://tellnod.com/templates).

## FAQ

### Will people who unsubscribed get my emails after I switch?

No, as long as the file includes them. Tellnod keeps unsubscribed, bounced and complained contacts excluded, and never marks a contact as subscribed without consent information.

### Can I keep my old tool while I try Tellnod?

Yes. Many shops try a campaign or two first. Keep unsubscribes in sync between the tools while you use both.

### Do I need help from your team to switch?

No. The import happens in the chat. If something in your file looks unusual, the assistant shows it before anything is imported.
